Policies & Procedures
What do I wear during the massage?
It is most important that the client feel comfortable during the massage. For relaxation or therapeutic table massage, clients are invited to undress completely, but you may decide to wear undergarments or other clothing depending on how you feel most at ease. Draping will be used at all times, so only the part of the body that is being worked will be exposed.
Will the therapist be present if I undress?
The therapist will leave the room while you undress, lie down on the table, and cover yourself with a sheet.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
You and the therapist will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, neck and shoulders, and scalp. You will not be touched on or near your genitals, nor will the breasts (on women) be massaged.
Will creams or oils be used?
For relaxation or therapeutic massage, a cream may be used to permit your muscles to be worked on without uncomfortable friction. The product used should hydrate the skin and be readily absorbed.
What should I do during the massage session?
Make yourself comfortable. The therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session. Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during their session. Feel free to ask the therapist questions about massage in general or about the particular technique you are receiving.
What should I do if I feel uncomfortable?
Please say something! If the massage is painful or otherwise physically uncomfortable, let the therapist know so that the pressure or techniques can be adjusted. If the massage continues to be uncomfortable for any reason, simply request that it end and the therapist will do so immediately, without question.
Are there any medical conditions that would make massage inadvisable?
Yes. It’s important that before you begin your session, the therapist ask general health questions. Please inform the therapist of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor’s care for a serious health condition, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage prior to any session.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, check, or credit card.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations are requested 24 hours in advance. If you cancel less than 24 hours in advance or fail to show up to an appointment, you may be charged for the session.
